    Marine Atlantic transports in excess of 100,000 commercial units each year. These units transport a wide variety of items accounting for more than 50% of all goods being shipped to and from the Island of Newfoundland.

    This section of the website is designed to provide our commercial customers with information on our services, as well as procedures to follow when traveling on our vessels.

    In North Sydney and Port aux Basques, commercial units will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Five premium spaces are available for reservation on each North Sydney and Port aux Basques crossing. To book a premium space, please call 1-800-341-7981.

    Commercial units traveling on the Argentia service are required to make reservations. A deposit of $150 is required for commercial reservations on the Argentia service. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-341-7981.

    Note: All commercial units are required to provide Marine Atlantic with a copy of their manifest at check in. Commercial units transporting dangerous or restricted goods are required to call ahead, regardless of their departure terminal.

    Please Note:

    If you intend to transport seafood using Marine Atlantic’s ferry service, we ask that you ensure the following:

    • Doors for the trailer unit are closed tightly;
    • The trailer unit is properly equipped to prevent spillage during the voyage;
    • Check-in at the terminal a minimum of 2 hours prior to scheduled departure; and
    • Check with the on duty Assistant Terminal Manager for details pertaining to draining of any collection unit.

    We want to ensure all of our customers have a safe and enjoyable voyage. Commercial customers who fail to comply with the procedures outlined above will be denied transportation.

    Notice to all commercial customers

    All commercial customers are required to provide Marine Atlantic with a copy of their load manifest upon check-in. Marine Atlantic reserves the right to deny transportation on our vessels to any customer not providing this document.
